1983 Greco Mint Collection Randy Rhodes RR-65

1983 Greco Les Paul Mint Collection RR-65

RR denotes Randy Rhoads. Made in Japan

Long tenon neck joint

These early 80’s Greco guitars are getting harder to find. Collectors look out for these Japanese made golden era guitars.

Gold coloured hardware (bridge, tailpiece, tuners etc) have all aged nicely and give a natural relic look.

Great straight neck with a truss rod that still works fine. Original frets are in good Nic. Very low action without any buzzing, it is a very easy guitar to play. And more importantly it sounds great too.

The Polar White finish has worn nicely and has taken on that yellow hue they get with age

1983 Greco RR65 Custom, Randy Rhoads model Mint Collection guitar. This guitar is in amazing condition, all original top of the line Greco. Long neck tenon joint, dry 82 pickups, brazillian rosewood board, fret binding, real MOP inlays, tone and sustain for days.

I collect Vintage Japanese guitars and these Greco ‘Lawsuit’ guitars and some of the best. This one is special.

August 1983 mint collection. I believe this is the RR-65 as the neck has fret edge binding. It looks great with the gold hardware and naturally yellowing finish.

Original pups should have been Dry '82 but they were changed out before I got this guitar. I've put some revered PU-2 pups in place and they really rock, a perfect match! For context PU-2 pups were the second most expensive pickups at the time, Dry-Z being the most. The neck is one of the best Greco's lp necks I've played. Not thin, and not SG baseball bat either. Just right. Frets have plenty of life too. It's in good condition except for a decent ding in the neck. UPDATE: ding filled with CA glue, sanded and buffed. Smooth and can't be felt when playing! The bridge vol pot cut in and out a bit but I've flushed it with cleaner and it's working perfectly now. Some finish checking on the back of the headstock and a couple of minor bumps and scrapes, as to be expected of it's age. No pickguard I'm sorry, it was missing it when I bought it but I love how it looks .

A Greco RR-55 from their Mint Collection line. This fantastic rendition of Randy's legandary Alpine White 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom. It's a painstakingly accurate recreation of the Norlin Spec LPC and the Screamin' PAF Pickups are all they are cracked up to be. The long neck tenon, volute, and ABR style bridge indicate the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail from Fujigen. It's 100% original and everything works as it should with a recent setup.

The pickups read in the upper 7's and deliver superior PAF tone. Very responsive to changes in volume and tone. The neck pickup is fat, woody and full of sonic overtones. Cleans up with a full and clean, warm tone. The bridge pickup can cut and bite with excellent definition and clarity but it isn't overly bright or spikey. Start dialing up the Volume and roll back the tone a bit and it starts to growl. In our opinion, it's a very well balanced and versatile pickup combo that is at least on par with any Gibson PAF style offering.

Like the Norlin offerings of the time, the 3 piece neck has a medium C profile with a comfortable shoulder profile. The neck depth measures .86" first fret and .98 at the twelfth. The binding is intact and the frets are in good shape with a recent dressing. Very little fretwear to note.

The long neck tenon, ebony fingerboard, and 10lbs of resonant Mahogany create a sustain monster that noticeably vibrates and rumbles when you play it. It has the 1 11/16" nut, 24 3/4" scale, and intricate multiply binding. There are no flaws in the neck joint.

Non original hard shell case.
